We are excited to share the success of the inaugural Industry Day from the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, at Devcon 2024. More than 300 attendees enjoyed panels and presentations featuring more than 75 speakers.
After an introduction from EEA Executive Director Karen Scarbrough and EEA Chairman, Paul Brody, the sessions kicked off with Gitcoin founder Kevin Owocki presenting an exploration of “How to DAO”, comparing the development of our ecosystem with the classic computer game “Oregon Trail”. This was followed by Krzysztof Urbanski, Governance Lead of L2 Beat, leading us through a discussion on the Layer 2 ecosystem, Elias Ahonen of Cointelegraph interviewing Rune Christensen of Maker (recently rebranded to Sky, they are behind the original Ethereum Stablecoin DAI), on their journey to a newly decentralized stablecoin, USDS. The final morning presentation was Patricio Worthalter of POAP, the proof of attendance protocol that is getting interest and real-world use from major brands such as Mercedes Benz, Bayer, and Michelin, as well as SWIFT, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Google. The morning session then wrapped up with a panel session on enterprise Layer 2 use cases featuring zkSync, Celo, Gateway.fm, and Polygon Labs.
The afternoon session was busy with 4 tracks of panels – a dozen topics ranging over Business use of Ethereum, DAOs, Decentralized Computing, DeFi Risk and EEAs DeFi Risk Assessment Guidelines, Identity, cross-chain Interoperability, Payments, Privacy, Staking and Tokenisation.
After the panel sessions a final keynote from Michael Casey, of the Decentralized AI Society (DAIS) discussed the impact of AI on Enterprise and Blockchains.
The next and highly anticipated plenary session was a fireside chat between EEA Chairman, Paul Brody, and Ethereum’s own Vitalik Buterin. In the discussion, Vitalik and Paul noted the accelerated choice Ethereum for decentralized applications, and how industry is learning to deal with heterogenous regulations at the application level while working on the homogenous platform of Ethereum.
The final presentation session of the day was entitled “Meet the Regulator”, in which Ryosuke Ishida, Chief Financial Officer at Japan’s Financial Services Agency, gave a live interview to Danielle Tichner.
You can watch the Keynotes and Main stage sessions – including the panels on DAOs, Business Models for L2 Networks, and Privacy, through the recording of the livestream, thanks to The Defiant. (Note that for about three minutes, about a quarter-hour in, the audio is broken. As a live recording, the breaks are still included taking real time).
